First Infrasound Festival Experience: Music, Vibes, and Highlights

Yoooooo so I went to Infra for the first time. Bucket list fest tbh. Flew in from NY; shit was crazy.

Here are my thoughts:

Thursday: Arrived at like 1:30ish met up with the boy Jagg who we camped with (salute Jagg ty so much for the camping gear and such. Real one!)

Dropped our shit grabbed some beers and headed straight to the pyramid stage to catch the end of Causa. Excellent way to start. One of my most anticipated sets of the weekend, but little did I know this was only the beginning.

Caught a lil bit of Ome, very good as well. Headed back to camp to recoup thoughts & life. Grabbed more beers and attempted the ‘2024 Infra Conflict Of The Year Challenge’ where we catch Onyx Garden x Wraz x Floret Loret to complete the trio of conflictions. Alas! We were successful. Onyx Garden settled in real nice with super vibey piano ass beats but also nice percs and kicks behind it (sound could’ve been louder at this point tbh). We then headed to Floret Loret where he was obviously throwing down & having a great time doing so. I was dancing having a great time just absorbing the stage & speakers. I’ve been wanting to be at this stage for years!

We ended the trifecta at Wraz and he played Dreadbox so yea that was the most winning situation I could’ve ever been in.
P.S within this challenge I told me friend we had to drink a beer for every stage we goto within this hour, which we completed. So sorry if the rest of this writeup becomes fuzzy (spoiler: the entire weekend & this post becomes fuzzy after this moment)

J:Kenzo is literally the god and should forever be treated as such. Always delivers & this Pyramid stage, I cannot exaggerate enough, is the best sound I’ve ever heard. Voids are no joke. Don’t really remember what we did until it was Integrate time. We got right up front for (Harmonic stage) and I noticed a very clear volume increase from Onyx Garden. Shit was HITTING. Really great set.

Next up, infamous Ternion set. The set was p much everything I needed from them, and the last 15 min tho were insane ngl.

Last, we saw Joker. Shit was different. He completely took over & with the lasers going was next level. An incredible first day.

Friday: Started the day off strong with Necromancer. He’s a favorite of mine to see live & I don’t really have any experience in the DnB world. But this set was CRAZY. A ton of people showed up for 11am and it was at the Pyramid, so the Voids were just GOING. Shit was so fire. Salute the boy truly cause that was def one of the sets that helped me understand DnB more.

Stayed for DJ PayPal for a lil’ and I was super feeling it. A lot of throwback type of trap tracks and hip hop stuff if I’m remembering correctly loooool. Ngl I think I chilled at camp for the next 2 hrs so I don’t remember any of Mary Droppinz, might’ve caught Bukez & Relativity Lounge?

I think we did. Damn this recap is literally the opposite of a recap lmao smfh.

Alright, time for ANOTHER TRIO SET CONFLICT CHALLENGE! Molokai x Ternion x Yoko. We failed this challenge cause we stayed long at Molokai & finished off with Yoko. Molokai came thru with an awesome set to set off the vibe for Friday. Really cool stuff he was playing. Yoko was playing some like tippery shit? Which was unexpected but awesome. Haven’t seen her before live but expected like her suupperrr slow heavy bass shit, but regardless it was very good. Things get iffy for me here. Don’t think I caught Joker’s 2nd set (maybe was over there for a second tho).

I know we saw Lord Genmu who was destroying it. Freddy Todd I think I saw? Phutureprimitive came thru and was nice (lmao why did I sign up to write a recap vlog knowing damn well this shit is gonna be a blur). Here is the big dog tho. Fucking Seppa. This Seppa set blew me away. Not only cause it was just absolutely insane, but being up front for them Element 5s is no joke. Literally felt the wind from the bass passing me. Totally made me rethink my life at times. Incredible set prolly a top 3 for me of the year so far.

Kll Smth came thru as always. Had to step back a bit to recoup myself from that Seppa set, but still grooved & danced tf out. Younger Brother was also awesome!!! Needed that refill of weird psytrance type shit which also helped me recoup my thoughts. Last of the night, I caught Shiverz at the Pyramid, where it was absolutely packed. Managed to finagle my way close to the Voids and it was HITTING!

Super vibe but I was just way too drunk at this point and needed a bed, so to bed I went.

Sunday: Grll Smth is a fucking vibe!!!! We got there late so ended up eating chopped up hot dogs in tortillas with sauces and corn and shit. It was excellent! And hit the spot. So many funny things happened in that line like the 6ft sub-bong-hits and such. Awesome to see a community come together like that on the last day & will sooooo much grilling happening everywhere you look. Never seen anything like it.

Mfing Nic Baker, Vide & Inspect3r have unlocked the cheat code with this project. Absolutely blew me away with their sound & just a crazy wave of club dancy bangers that is NEEDED at this time within the festival scene. Shit was absurd on the Voids. Top 3 set as well truly. Can’t wait to see much more of them on the circuit.

Sister Nancy’s crew had a great set before she came on. Was truly vibing eating pizza + then we chilled at the Pyramid stage where there was mad DnB playing and it was excellent! We caught Reid Speed & Sylph who were both amazing. Again mind you I don’t really care for DnB like that, and I was still getting down. The Pyramid stage super helped me find my appreciate for it this weekend! We chilled until Vide. Vide is just a goat truly. Mans deserves so much more praise. So happy he got a nighttime solo slot at the pyramid at Infra.

Salute the fucking boy last, Eprom. This Eprom set we ended up right up front left at Harmonic stage. It was definitely an experience. Best Eprom set I’ve ever seen? No. But it was equally good in its own way. It was like an entire story & had crazy crazy crazy visuals. It wasn’t as heavy by any means that I usually like my Eprom sets to be, but the visuals made up for that, especially knowing how much work he & his team put into them. There were like these made up brands that kept popping up but were similar to ones we all know. And also the amount of detail in little things that he was showing, like graffiti on the walls of abandoned buildings they curated, was so crazy. Really amazing way to end this Infra experience.

Overall: Couldn’t be happier with my first Infra experience! We were truly spoiled with some of the best artists out right now, along with some legends, and the best sound systems I could ever truly imagine.

I do have one complaint (that is prolly totally avoidable but I just had no idea what I was doing as a first timer) is that where we camped, once the music starts, there’s no escaping the music til quiet hours (which – granted – are pretty early and appreciated compared to other fests!). However for the majority of the time at most campsites, plan on hearing crystal clear music out of the Voids and E5s. At most times, from every angle. And shit was LOUD! so there was no escaping it unless you went out into the car parking field or maybe that lake thing (I didn’t visit the lake thing). I’m sure there’re other quiet areas, but that’s just something I noticed, and something to keep in mind for the camper who likes a midday fest reprieve from sensory overload.

Other than that, everything was amazing and so on point. Amazing community, amazing food, just a really awesome special experience that I’m glad lived up to the hype.

I’ll be back someday soon!
