HØST – Surrealism EP

When does HØST not deliver? I first came across HØST the same time I heard Aagentah. Both were so absolutely fresh and intriguing, like something no one else was doing. Over the years, the sound has only grown to be more crazy & more intriguing. Check out the HØST Renraku 2020 stream if you can find it. Probably my favorite stream from the quarantine era.

Surrealism is dark, packed with intrusive sounds that cannot be ignored. Sub bass for days over grueling melodies. Don’t think I’ve heard HØST do some rock ass track before like on ‘KWAYBACK’, which sounds like electric guitar & live drums. ‘SWITCH THE LIGHTS OFF’ couldn’t have been titled better with the lurking fading sounds throughout, creating that feeling of knowing someone or something is looking at you. ‘NRAF’ has that classic crazy buildup (bring back long buildups) that insanely pays off after almost 2 minutes of suspense. And nothing like HØST throwing in some pitched down rap vocals, a formula he’s done over the years (check out the track Caramel, one of my favorites all time).

Overall, listen to HØST. He’s truly not talked about enough & absolutely deserves it. Bring HØST & Aagentah to the states ASAP.
